Samira Noorali, 31, is a writer, musician, composer, and explorer. Her music is influenced by classical masterminds and contemporary artists across lotsa genres. Poetry has been Noorali’s most prominent form of artistic expression for years, but music is her passion, her struggle and her greatest love. She’s currently obsessed with Bon Iver, Sigur Ros, and Edith Piaf.
Michelle Castillo, is a teacher, poet, and activist who moonlights as an opera singer. Traveling everywhere with her musician mother, she became a child of the road playing in studios and sleeping in makeshift beds. She grew up singing gospel and classical opera. Currently, Michelle curates local poetry readings and organizes the CONNECTED open mic series here at The Coachella Valley Art Scene. Her musical tastes include Mos Def, Billie Holiday, Gershwin, Puccini and Enigma.
